Your exam has no multiple-choice portion. Your prep should not either.

The California Attorneys' Examination is open to attorneys already admitted in another US jurisdiction who have practiced for a required number of years. It is essays and a performance test (PT), with no Multistate Bar Examination (MBE).

Bengos gives you rule statements for the California essay subjects and a daily pace set from your exam date, checked against the time you say you have each day. The PT gives you a file and a library with the law you need, so the way to prepare for it is to work through released past PTs.

You have practiced for years, but a full bar review course may be more time and money than you can spare while working. You also may not have typed out rules from memory against a clock since law school. A passing-length California answer realistically calls for a raw typing speed of about 50 words per minute or better (here is how we worked that out). We estimate Bengos takes about 40 to 95 minutes a day if you start three or more months out. Your own time may differ, and it does not have to be one sitting: spread it across the day in shorter sessions, with breaks and other study in between. Reviews use spaced repetition, so the rules you are less confident in come back more often.
